The Metacognitive Assessment Series (MAS) General Potential provides a contemporary, working memory-focused alternative to traditional abstract/diagrammatic reasoning tests to assess general learning and problem-solving potential in the workplace.
The assessment consists of tests of working memory and numerical problem solving, sampling fluid ability as an objective measure of learning potential. Scores are algorithmically combined to derive the General Potential Quotient, in addition to reporting scores on each of the subtests. The report also includes a unique metacognitive component that provides insights into an individual’s decision-making style, to detect any patterns of overconfidence or underconfidence.
An individual’s test taking behavior is also monitored in ‘real time’ to deter cheating and detect any actions they take that may invalidate the results of a test session.
MAS GENERAL POTENTIAL REPORT
Both the Standard and Advanced reports include tests of working memory and numerical problem solving; the time intervals in the Advanced version are shorter than the Standard. Both reports also provide a normed General Potential Quotient, an overall estimate of general ability, for easy comparison of test takers.
The reports assist practitioners in:
• Identifying high potential people whose cognitive capacity is matched by confident, accurate and timely decision making.
• Identifying a person’s decision making style and uncovering individuals who show consistent patterns of overconfidence or underconfidence in their cognitive abilities.
SOUTH AFRICAN RESEARCH
JVR Psychometrics has conducted local research and South African norms are available for the MAS General Potential Standard and welcomes the opportunity to partner with clients in conducting research studies in their organisations on both the Standard and Advanced versions.
