While assessments of intelligence have been successfully used to identify gifted children, there are very few other standardised procedures that can help practitioners to obtain a more comprehensive picture of children who are non-academically gifted. Evaluations of whether your child or learner is ‘gifted’ and has the potential to develop certain talents at an accelerated rate, can be side-tracked by personal biases or judgements towards the child. As a result, there may be many children that could be falling through the cracks due to unassessed potential. The Gifted Rating Scales (GRS™) is a standardised assessment that factors in observational bias and has a high degree of measurement accuracy that enables professionals to objectively appraise the child’s capabilities under the guidance of specified indicators .
