Career Construction Counselling Using Early Recollections

Enhance your career counselling skills with our one-day workshop on Career Construction using Early Recollections. Learn to connect conscious and subconscious insights.

Workshop

Given the dramatic changes in the world of work and careers, and the impact of technological advances impelled by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, a more up-to-date approach is needed to enable career counsellors and their clients to respond adequately to new developments in careers, career choice, and career execution. The workshop in Career Construction Counselling Using Early Recollections will equip you with the skills to integrate the twin processes of self- and of career construction and thus help people connect what they know about themselves consciously with what they are aware of subconsciously.

Workshop content

This one-day workshop – based on the work of Mark Savickas – focuses on promoting best practice in career counselling theory and practice and discusses the importance of reflecting and reflexivity as integral aspects of 21st century career counselling. The workshop further demonstrates the ways in which Savickas’ Career Construction Interview (CCI) can be used with or without other auxiliary career counselling techniques and strategies to facilitate career (construction) counselling. The aim is to help people connect what they know about themselves consciously with what they are aware of subconsciously.

*Delegates are encouraged to purchase and read the following book before attending the workshop: Maree, J. G. (2020). Innovating counselling for self- and career construction: Connecting conscious knowledge with subconscious insight. Springer.
