The Metacognitive Assessment Series (MAS) Numerical provides a contemporary, mental agility-focused alternative to traditional numerical aptitude reasoning tests to quickly assess graduate and professional applicants’ potential to rapidly solve mental arithmetic, numerical pattern recognition and financial reasoning problems, without the use of a calculator or other aids.
Scores are algorithmically combined to derive the Numerical Quotient, in addition to reporting scores on each of the subtests. The report also includes a unique metacognitive component that provides insights into an individual’s decision-making style, to detect any patterns of overconfidence or underconfidence.
An individual’s test taking behavior is also monitored in ‘real time’ to deter cheating and detect any actions they take that may invalidate the results of a test session.
MAS NUMERICAL REPORT
The MAS Numerical report includes test scores from mental arithmetic, numerical pattern recognition and financial reasoning tests, which sample fluid reasoning ability and numerical crystallised knowledge. It also provides a normed Numerical Quotient – an overall estimate of numerical ability – for easy comparison of test takers.
The reports assist practitioners in:
• Identifying high potential ‘numbers’ people who have high numerical problem solving ability matched by confident, accurate and timely decision making.
• Identifying a person’s decision making style and uncovering individuals who show consistent patterns of overconfidence or underconfidence in their numerical abilities.
