JvR has been a longstanding distributor of distinguished psychometric assessments within the field of psychology. Now JvR embarks on a similar journey with other medical professionals including, but not limited to, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Hearing Therapists. During the past few months we have received an increasing number of requests from such professionals asking for assessments within their scope of practice. Before this occurrence, we had included tools such as the Creative Fingers Workbook in our South African range of products. We have, to our delight, recently added the Receptive and Expressive Activities for Language Therapy (REALt) for use by speech and language therapists, teachers or even parents to our South African products. The REALt was developed by Dr Frenette Southwood and Dr Ondene van Dulm, both of whom are Speech and Language therapists. This programme provides therapy material for later-developing language skills in English and Afrikaans-speaking children from age 4 and older. The script is presented in Afrikaans and South African English simultaneously, and the picture material was created by local artists about local families and customs.
The kit is valued at R3800 VAT included and consists of the following components:
- A total of 353 picture-based items, presented in eight easel-backed booklets (A4/A5), one for each targeted language area (Articles, Binding, Conjunctions, Ellipsis, Narratives and role-taking, Passive sentences, Quantifiers, and Wh questions)
- A laminated A3 orientation poster to introduce and aid memory of the characters occurring in the pictures
- A CD containing 130 reproducible A4 story sheets to be printed and folded into mini-books (intended as home programme work; they target the same areas as the picture-based therapy activities)
- A user manual
We will have a ‘medical catalogue’ in early 2013 and we plan that our offering in this field will expand to suit the needs of our new market. For more information on this and other products please contact Andrea.
