The continuous changes in the world of work pose real challenges for those who have to make career choices. Within this context, it is often quite challenging for professionals to provide career counselling that will guide and support those who have to make decisions with regard to their careers. This workshop was designed to provide insight into the dynamic world of work that we are faced with today and how to adjust career counselling to suit these needs of the new world of work. The workshop will take a closer look at career counselling in practice. The traditional counselling approaches will be critically evaluated in order to see how they meet the needs posed by the realities of the 21st century work arena. In doing so, we will investigate the appropriateness of a variety of narrative techniques and psychometric assessments. In addition, the workshop will focus on practical case studies. Delegates will also be encouraged to bring their own case studies for peer discussions.
